Line and paragraph spacing

Line spacing determines the amount of vertical space between lines of text in a paragraph. By default, lines are single-spaced. Paragraph spacing determines the amount of space above or below a paragraph. Word offers some handy pre-set values to use when adjusting spacing, but you can also take full control by specifying exact spacing.

The text in the first box shows the difference between standard line spacing of 1.0 and what line spacing set at 1.5 looks like:

The text below shows what it looks like when space is added above a paragraph. The third paragraph has standard/default spacing above it. The second paragraph (shown in bold) has additional space above it.
