We’re far from being out of the woods, but the region is starting to return to business. What’s new at Harvest?

In the peak of Winter it has been disturbing to see Victoria’s cases of COVID-19 continue to soar. The State now reports over 5,500 cases, with the last two weeks in particular seeing daily case numbers averaging between 250 and 370. The Melbourne Metropolitan region and the Mitchell Shire are currently in Stage 3 restrictions and all Melbournians are now required to wear masks outside. The economy and employment continues to falter in Victoria’s capital city.

Only 70km away and 30 minutes from Melbourne’s outer Western suburbs, Geelong breathes a sigh of relief and, at time of writing, has had restrictions eased.

While we are far from being out of the woods, the region is starting to respond and return to business. A snapshot of the region and the impact COVID has had on our main sectors was published in our June article.

To our business units…

Talent Recruitment

While the COVID-19 pandemic, put the brakes on Harvest’s recruitment business our focus on specialist recruitment saw Harvest being supported as a local recruitment provider to the region and a capable boutique recruitment firm. We worked on assignments from a Warehouse Coordinator for a health consumables business to placing the Crisis Support Operations Manager for Lifeline, a Change Partner to support a major organisation with its transformation agenda, and WHS consultants to address the COVID safe return to work.

Due to the support of our region at this challenging time, we are delighted to announce the commencement of two new consultants to the business.

Stephanie Potaznik joins Harvest as our Recruitment Lead for professional services and will help steer Harvest’s recovery and growth. Stephanie has worked in recruitment in Accounting, Finance, Banking and FinTech across Australia, London and New York. A qualified Accountant herself, Stephanie will be a trusted recruiter and advisor to our professional services clients and major employers for in-house corporate services, IT, legal and finance roles.

Jackie Matthews is well known in Geelong through her family business in scrap metal. What is less familiar to our region is Jackie brings a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and has been providing consulting in recruitment as well as candidate and employee profiling for over 10 years. Jackie will work across our manufacturing, agribusiness, FMCG and retail sectors, in addition to construction and engineering workshops placing sales, marketing, customer service roles as well as warehouse/manufacturing/construction managers and specialists plus qualified trades.
