The Role:

The Risk Manager position is a newly created role to assist Geelong Bank with the implementation of regulatory changes including CPS 230 Operational Risk Management and FAR. Reporting to the CEO, the Risk Manager will be involved with the Board risk committee and will ensure that the bank meets its regulatory obligations with ASIC, APRA and other standards/legislations.

The Risk Manager will be responsible for the strategic direction and day to day managing of risk activities, making sure risks to the bank and its customers are clearly identified, proactively mitigated and managed.

They will further develop and oversee the risk management framework, stay up to date with regulatory changes while creating risk maps for the company.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Undertake risk and compliance control.
  • Develop recommendations to the Board and CEO in response to statutory and regulatory changes.
  • Maintain and update the Risk Management Strategy and Risk Appetite Statement.
  • Check risk control procedures are compliant.
  • Promote risk and compliance culture with staff.
  • Complete regular Board reports.
  • Engage with Stakeholders regarding risk and compliance.
  • Provide secretarial services to the Risk Committee.

You:

The ideal candidate will have a grounding in risk management and ideally come from the financial services, banking, or insurance sector. Additionally, Risk professionals who have had exposure to a Board’s risk committee will be suitable for this role. Exposure to Australian financial legislation/regulations and ISO standards associated to risk would be highly beneficial.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Experience in risk and compliance, preferably in retail banking
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of stakeholders.
  • Solid attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.
