Following the recent successful Geelong HR Roundtable, which focused on regional talent attraction and acquisition strategies, the potential for a game-changing approach in Greater Geelong is becoming increasingly evident.

The 2022 Geelong HR Index highlighted the need for a targeted regional talent attraction strategy, prompting Harvest to take proactive steps in exploring its feasibility.

Director Maree Herath has been actively engaging with employers in the region, recognising the significance of devising effective strategies to attract and retain top talent. With this goal in mind, the decision was made to organise the Geelong HR Roundtable aimed at discussing winning strategies for unearthing talent in today’s competitive market.

On May 31 2023, the Novotel played host to this captivating event, with nearly 50 guests eagerly participating in a dynamic discussion. The atmosphere was brimming with enthusiasm as industry leaders, HR professionals, and talent acquisition experts gathered around roundtables, ready to delve into the intricacies of talent attraction and acquisition in a talent-short market.

The insights shared during the roundtable discussion were enlightening. Diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and practical experiences were exchanged, providing valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by organisations in the quest for exceptional talent. We delved into the strategies that have proven successful in unearthing hidden gems, along with hints on how to promote the region to prospective employees.

Throughout the event, it became increasingly clear that a collaborative approach, where employers, HR professionals, recruitment agencies and the City of Greater Geelong, work hand in hand, is essential for effectively navigating the talent landscape. By pooling all our expertise, resources, and networks, organisations can optimise their chances of attracting and securing the best candidates.
