GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking an experienced finance professional to provide critical support through the end-of-financial-year period. This short-term assignment is ideal for a seasoned Coordinator Finance or Financial Accountant who can step in quickly, stabilise BAU and help deliver key reporting and audit milestones.

Financial Accountant (8-week contract)

Local Government | Greater Geelong Region | $75 per hour

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to provide critical support through the end-of-financial-year period. This short-term assignment is ideal for a seasoned Coordinator Finance or Financial Accountant who can step in quickly, stabilise BAU and help deliver key reporting and audit milestones.

About the Role

Working closely with the Manager Finance, Coordinator Finance, Financial Accountant and Management Accountant, you’ll play a hands-on role across:

· End-of-year processes, audit preparation and annual financial statements

· General ledger, journals, reconciliations and financial reporting

· Returns, acquittals and compliance requirements

· Budget development, analysis and financial modelling

· Supporting a new Manager commencing 9 June

· Providing stability while the team leads a major financial system transition (Altus → Business Central)

This is a role for someone who can step in with confidence, manage competing priorities and keep BAU moving while the team navigates a busy reporting cycle and system change.

About You

You bring strong technical accounting capability, excellent attention to detail and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. You’re collaborative, calm under pressure and comfortable supporting multiple stakeholders.

You’ll ideally offer:

· Local Government finance experience (essential)

· Strong financial accounting and EOFY reporting capability

· Experience with GL, journals, reconciliations and financial statements

· Understanding of asset accounting methodologies

· CPA/CA qualification (preferred)

· Ability to step into the Coordinator role if required

Contract Details

· 8-week contract

· $75 per hour

· Immediate start

· Hybrid model (3/2) — Greater Geelong Office + WFH
