Did you know Harvest is a proud Silver partner of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce? This partnership has significantly increased our brand recognition and introduced us to a community of like-minded business organisations. Many of these connections have attended our popular Geelong HR Roundtables and become a part of the Harvest community.

The Importance of Networking

Here’s a good reason to network if you are looking for a job or career change.

With up to 80% of available positions contained within the hidden job market, networking may just be the key to finding them.

If you’re looking to meet new people, you can’t go past the Geelong Chamber of Commerce.

With over 1,000 members and monthly “After 5” events with no fewer than 200 members in a room, this is a great place to start.

If the thought of working a room full of industry professionals brings on a cold sweat, you are not alone. Networking is not about self-promotion; it’s about building relationships. You’ll need to muster some courage and walk up to strangers. Start by saying ‘hi.’ When you mention it’s your first Chamber function, members will be obliging and make you feel welcome. And don’t forget, Team Harvest will be there too, so seek us out!

About the Geelong Chamber of Commerce

One of the oldest Chambers of Commerce in the country, the Geelong Chamber was established in 1853.

Local businesses can sign up for an annual membership to play a role in the region’s growth and be part of a unique business community. The Chamber provides members with access to areas of government and promotes businesses to a large following. Their full schedule of networking events is the largest in the region, and their masterclasses, mentoring, and online resources are designed to give businesses the edge they need to succeed.

The Chamber is the ‘voice’ for Geelong’s business community – driving business growth, reducing business barriers, and advancing Geelong’s future by supporting and nurturing businesses in the region. As Geelong’s premier business representative body, the Chamber advocates on behalf of all forms of business – micro, small, medium, and large – ensuring industries have a say on issues that impact the economic viability of business and the region.

Geelong Business Excellence Awards

The Chamber also runs the Geelong Business Excellence Awards (GBEA)– Geelong’s premiere ‘night of nights’. This prestigious awards program recognises clever, creative, and connected businesses and business leaders. Managed by the Geelong Chamber since 1986, the GBEA is Australia’s longest-running business rewards program. Our own Director, Maree Herath, won Business Leader of the Year in 2022 – a title she wears with pride.
